We reimage each machine to bare metal before putting ANY Microsoft OS on there. Microsoft's shenanigans don't bother us much because we use Altiris and it balances out in the big picture - Altiris' system engineers are smart enough to make up for how dumb Microsoft's people are. And no, we are definitely not going to Vista. We are a medium size organization (~1000 computers). We do not have a single Vista machine on campus, we do not support Vista, and we do not allow Vista machines to be connected to our network. We have better things to do than learn a new OS every 3 years. We'll go to Windows 7 when we're good and ready, maybe after SP1 comes out. Big whoop.
