So, let me get this straight - Microsoft 'gives' me a computer, then charges me approximately 1$/hr to actually use it for anything.

Let's do the Math on this one.

4 hours average computer use a day X 365 days a year = 1,460$ per year (every year) = a giant shafting by Microsoft.

And that is just if you use your computer an average amount of time.

Then on top of this I get to purchase all the additional games/applications/software/peripherals that the computer either won't include in the hourly rate, or even worse are "Not Microsoft Certified".

The best part is that these computers probably won't allow Firefox, OpenOffice or any other Open-Source or Free software that competes with a Microsoft product to be installed or run.

Thanks, but No Thanks Bill.

Then again, if it ever does hit the market place - then we can knock it pretty hard. And point and laugh.

The only way this would work was if
a) every hardware vendor in the world agreed AND
b) there was no such thing as a hardware hacker.

I'd love this idea. I'd get powerful hardware for free, and with a ten minute trip to an unsavory site somewhere, I'd use its full potential for free, for ever.

Hm. Interesting if true.

I suppose we can't knock it until it hits the market place though.
