Very interesting way to look at Vista's slow performance. I have to agree.. my laptop (1.9GHz and 3GB RAM) takes 1 one minute to get to the password screen and an additional full three minutes to completely start up. I don't have a lot of programs that start when windows starts. Vista is without a doubt the slowest OS ever and I can't blame employees for taking off to do something else while their computer starts up. I always go make coffee when I start up my laptop at home in the morning. :-)

I really don't understand the hatred for Vista. I have am running Vista Ultimate on a computer with a $20 Sempron processor and one gig of $15 ram and it takes about 30 seconds from the time I press the power button to get to the desktop.
I have that computer connected to my TV and use it as use it as a HTPC. It plays Blu-ray and HD-DVDs just fine with no issues.

I think people who are having these long boot times should check to make sure that their hardware is properly configured.
